FREE CSV AND JSON FILE CHECKS

Build the file the other system expects, column by column.

Preview a CSV in another system's column layout: choose a source for each column, add exact constants and look up codes in a reference file. The original file stays untouched.

Free to use. No account, email address or trial. Works offline once prepared.

MADE FOR THE FLOOR

For integrators, IT generalists and technically minded supervisors who turn one system's export into another system's import layout, often with a code lookup in between.

A USEFUL STARTING POINT

A mapping should be declared, not guessed

Automatic column matching is quick, but a wrongly matched column or code is hard to spot afterwards. In FeedBench every target column has one declared source: a column from your file, an exact text constant or an exact lookup in a reference CSV. A source column feeds one target only, every column you leave out must be acknowledged, and the result is a new comma-separated file. The original bytes are never changed.

FROM QUESTION TO EVIDENCE

Three steps to a useful result.

  1. 01

    Check the source

Check the source file first so FeedBench knows its headers. Then add each target column the receiving layout needs, in the order it expects.

  2. 02

    Declare each column

For each target choose a source column, an exact text constant or a lookup that matches one to four key columns exactly against a reference CSV. A missing or repeated reference key stops the preview instead of picking a match.

  3. 03

    Preview and reuse

Acknowledge the columns you leave out, choose Check now and review the derived preview. Download the CSV preview, and download the mapping as a recipe to import for the next file.

A CONCRETE EXAMPLE

A lookup that refuses to guess

An order export has a column cust with codes such as ACME-01, and the receiving layout needs customer_code with internal codes. A reference CSV maps ACME-01 to C0042. When record 37 holds ACME-02, which the reference does not contain, the preview stops at record 37 and reports a missing reference value. FeedBench never picks the nearest spelling.

USED IN PRODUCTION

When the same file arrives every day.

FeedBench checks one file at a time, by hand. Two SmartFACT services handle the data work that repeats: keeping the lookup tables your applications need, and turning order exports into checked kits. Both are in early access, with scope agreed at onboarding.

Early access

ConfigSheets

If every file needs the same code lookup, ConfigSheets lets your team keep that table in Google Sheets and makes it available as structured data your applications can query, from customer and supplier code mappings to tables and grids.

Early access

KitProof

When an order export decides what goes into each kit, KitProof starts from a CSV export of your orders, builds each kit's checklist from approved plain English component rules and checks every scan against the expected parts and quantities.

BEFORE YOU START

A few practical answers.

Can I change a single value?

Yes, as an explicit change in the derived file. Choose the record and field and type the replacement. Each change records the value it replaces and is tied to that exact source file, so it cannot be applied to a different file by mistake. A project holds up to 1,000 changes.

Does it check files for SmartFACT products?

The destination list includes candidate local checks for FactoryCards bin and rack cards, WorkSteps units and KitProof source maps. They are previews, not an approval: the receiving application checks access, its current settings, existing records and the import itself. WorkSteps and KitProof checks also need a declared context file that you load.

Can it convert units or split columns?

No. FeedBench maps source columns, exact constants and exact lookups only. It does not calculate, convert units, split or merge columns, run formulas or match codes approximately. Make those changes in the source system, or as explicit changes to individual values.

What are the current limits?

FeedBench checks and previews files. It does not import, repair or synchronise anything, and it never trims, pads, converts or approximately matches values. It reads UTF-8 CSV with a confirmed comma, semicolon or tab delimiter and a header row, and strict JSON, up to 5 MiB per file and 15 MiB per project. CSV checks cover up to 10,000 records and 64 columns, a reference file up to 5,000 records, and a check stops after ten seconds. Mapping uses source columns, exact constants and exact lookups only, with no formulas, unit conversion, splitting or merging. JSON is inspected and compared for exact equality, not mapped. XLSX, XML, EDI, other text encodings and CSV without a header row are not read. Candidate checks for SmartFACT layouts never confirm a live import.

What happens to my data?

Your files stay in this browser. A temporary project keeps them in memory while the tab is open; Save on this device keeps the project, source files included, until you delete it. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account or email step. Default reports leave out your values, file names and hashes. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you accept; it never receives file contents, file names, values or results. Use Analytics settings to change your choice; see /privacy/.
